Applied Learning Programme (ALP)
EVG’s Enhanced ALP equips students with the skills to express themselves creatively through music, speech, and storytelling.Through a series of in-house workshops, students learnt the fundamentals of public speaking and storytelling — from crafting engaging content to improving vocal delivery and stage presence. These sessions helped students build confidence, communicate with clarity, and express their emotions effectively.

Reading Programme
This year, the Chinese Unit introduced a Reading Programme for Secondary One and Two students to nurture a love for reading and expand their worldviews. Through curated texts, class discussions, and interactive SLS activities, students developed critical thinking and communication skills while engaging deeply with literary content.To enrich the experience, students also took part in a Story Writing Workshop, where visual and auditory prompts were used to inspire creative storytelling and strengthen their narrative writing abilities.

Lunar New Year Celebration
Lunar New Year is a significant cultural celebration, and in 2025 — a year symbolising rejuvenation — our school welcomed the Year of the Snake with a vibrant hybrid celebration.The festivities featured an exciting blend of online and in-person elements, including a virtual concert and a Chinese calligraphy competition. Students showcased their talents through captivating performances by the Chinese Orchestra, Chinese Dance, Malay Dance, Guitar Ensemble, and Gamelan.

North Zone Speech Competition
Jointly organised by Evergreen Primary and Evergreen Secondary School, the 2025 North Zone Chinese Speech Competition saw over 170 staff and students from 32 schools participating between May and July.The event provided a valuable platform for students to develop their oratorical skills, build confidence, and connect with peers through public speaking. We are proud to share that Ong Qing Ru clinched 1st place, while Chan Li Yun achieved 2nd place, both representing Evergreen Secondary with excellence.
Malay Language
Over the years, the Malay Language Unit has provide numerous opportunities to EVGians to demonstrate sharpen their skills in a variety workshops that cover poetry writing, debate, expository writing and communications.
Through these workshops, students participated in interactive and engaging activities that helped developed their confidence and deepen their love for the language.
Silat Pengantin Workshop for Secondary One
This workshop aims to expose students to the Malay art of self- defense. Students learn various martial art techniques and significance of silat in Malay society.
National Writing Competition – Peraduan Pena Emas
Over the years, Evergreen Secondary School achieved remarkable results in the National Writing Competition - Pena Emas. A number of our students were among the Top 30.
Secondary Two Interactive Oracy Skills Workshop- Journalism
The workshop conducted offers a unique and invaluable opportunity to cultivate critical thinking, communication skills and media literacy.
Secondary Four Creative Writing Workshop- Bengkel Penulisan Kreatif
This Creative Writing Workshop aims to sharpen the upper secondary students' skills in narrative essay writing. Through this workshop, students were exposed to various creative writing techniques. The students surely gained many benefits while being entertained by Mr. Peter’s effective teaching style.
Secondary Three Lyrics and Songwriting Workshop with Khair Yasin
Evergreen Secondary School invited renowned lyricist, Mr. Khair Yasin, to conduct a Lyric and Songwriting Workshop for the Secondary 3 students. Through this workshop, students were able to produce meaningful and creative song lyrics. The students also enjoyed composing songs in Malay while learning various lyric-writing techniques.
Young Journalist Camp Competition organized by Berita Harian
Our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Young Journalist Competition, also known as Kem Kewartawanan, organized by Berita Harian. This event provided our students with a fantastic chance to dive into the world of journalism firsthand. They showcased their skills by creating a vlog, conducting interviews (including one with Singapore's rising star, Shaza), writing newspaper articles, and capturing stunning photos like professional journalists.
